Easy pizza rolls

INGREDIENTS

  • phyllo pastry
  • 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise or tomato puree
  • ham (or salami, sausage, bacon,… according to your preference)
  • grated or sliced cheese a handful of parsley or chives a handful of spinach or arugula (optional)
  • garlic powder or garlic clove
  • pizza seasoning
  • egg for brushing (can be replaced with olive oil)

METHOD

  1. Roll out the prepared phyllo pastry into a sheet or use pre-rolled pastry. Then spread it with mayonnaise or tomato puree. However, you can also use tartar sauce, sour cream, or ketchup with a bit of pressure. The choice is yours, feel free to mix the individual ingredients. Then sprinkle them with pizza seasoning and you can also add garlic powder. However, you can replace garlic powder with a clove of garlic, which, after pressing, mix it in tomato puree or ketchup, which is spread on the phyllo pastry. Then sprinkle the whole sheet with finely chopped parsley or chives. If you want to create a truly perfect combination of flavors, it won’t hurt to add fresh spinach or arugula (which is a bit bitter). Chop the spinach into smaller pieces. Then we start to arrange the ham, but it’s also worth trying salami or tasty sausage (slice it thinly), so the choice is again entirely up to you. Finally, sprinkle everything with grated cheese, but you can also use slices of hard cheese. When everything is prepared like this, start rolling the pastry as with strudels. After rolling, cut the finished roll into smaller pieces and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Before baking, brush each piece with beaten egg. However, it’s also worth trying the version with olive oil, which you can mix with pressed garlic (in this case, it’s not necessary to add it to the “filling”) and you can spread individual rolls with this mixture.
  2. Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius for about 15 to 20 minutes. When the pizza rolls are baked to golden brown, you can remove them.
